The Sunday School Superintendents and
the staff of teachers and volunteers begin Sunday
morning at 9:30AM with the school’s own special Children’s Chapel Service in the
parish house. Children's Chapel comprises the Liturgy of the Word, an age-appropriate
discussion of the readings, and prayer. After this short service, the children
break into four Sunday School classes; for preschool-kindergarten aged children,
grades 1-3, grades 4-8 and grades 9-12.
The children are very involved in the life of the Parish. They put on the annual Christmas pageant and the annual celebration of the Children's Sabbath the 3rd Sunday in October. They dye Easter eggs for and participate in the egg hunt on Easter morning after the 10:00 service. They perform the duties of acolytes and participate in the annual clean-up and work-detail parties along with their parents. Some Sunday school members also serve as lay readers during the worship services. The Sunday School is an important element of Parish life, and we greatly appreciate the efforts of the superintendent, teachers and volunteers.
Adults gather for various thought provoking studies and discussions on Sundays after services or during the week, especially during Advent and Lent. Coupled with regular times of prayer and worship, we believe that life-long education equips us for life-long mission. We invite you to join us in that mission. |
| Preschool and Kindergarten aged children receive instruction using the Cook Communications Ministries, Anglican Edition Bible-in-Life curriculum. It is designed to help the next generations gain a comprehensive understanding of Scripture in the Anglican Tradition complete with a commitment to the Great Commission. Children
in grades 1-3 and 4-6 receive instruction using the Episcopal Children's
Curriculum developed by Morehouse Publishing. This program uses biblical storytelling,
the study of church traditions and participation in worship to teach Christian
faith and what it means to live out the covenant made in Holy Baptism. We use
the curriculum for children in grades 1-3, and grades 4-6. There are three years
of material for each age group. Lessons are organized around the seasons of the
Church year and draw from The Bible, The Book of Common Prayer, the hymnal, church
liturgy and tradition. ECC lesson plans include tips for adapting sessions to
small and large class sizes and offer a variety of fun activities that help children
grasp important concepts. |
