Outreach at All Hallows |
|
The people of All Hallows believe in meaningful
outreach as part of Parish Life.
We understand outreach not as something we do, but as part of who we are, as Christians.
Outreach covers so wide a field that it takes a village to care for our clientele. |

Our Food Bank is
the largest portion of our outreach program. Monday mornings, except on most Federal holidays,
the Parish distributes supplemental food for
approximately twenty-five local families. The food includes canned
good, fresh meat, milk, eggs, and, occasionally, fresh vegetables
and fruit. On average,
we help feed 213 people per month; equal to 74 homes per month,
891 households per year. |
The Food Bank is supported by contributions of food
and funds. It is an official branch of the Anne Arundel County
Food Bank. The County provides a large amount of the non-perishable
items, which our volunteers pick up and transport from the County’s distribution
site, to stock our shelves. Using
funds from the Parish, volunteers also shop for the perishable
items we provide in our weekly distributions. |
The Food Bank also provides special baskets
for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. For the Christmas season,
our Food Bank sponsors the Christmas gift of giving for the children
of our regular patrons to make their Christmas a little special.
The adults provide names and description of each child, and members
of the Parish purchase gifts for each child.
A few years ago, Kathie Lloyd arranged for the guests at her Christmas potluck luncheon to bring gifts for the adult
Food Bank patrons. This tradition continues and the grown-ups are truly grateful not to be overlooked.
This year, the Youth Group donated their unsold Christmas
wreaths to the Food Bank patrons. |
